It’s not regular that we have pronounced clouds like we did yesterday in Los Angeles. So +Mark Esguerra and I drove up to the hills of Glendale to get some shots before sundown. We ended up staying a bit after sundown to get some long exposures shots.

It didn’t realize that it was a bit windy up there. The active shrubbery roughed up most of all my exposures, but all the well.

Yesterday I visited the home of a Tusken Raider.

No, I did not travel to Tatooine. A few folks drove out to Trona Pinnacles to get some sunset and night shooting in.

Trona Pinnacles is located near Trona, California and is near the entrance of Death Valley. It’s home to some really unusual rock formations.

These unusual formations consist of more than 500 rock spires, some as high as 150 feet rising from the bed of the Searles Lake basin. The pinnacles vary in size and shape from short and squat to tall and thin.

Yes, diamond-studded-speakers! This Taiwan company had these $68,000 speakers on display, they weren’t playing any music, just sitting pretty! I was told they were designed with inspirations from wine bottles and flowers.

Shot this in a cave at El Matador State Beach in Malibu.

If you haven’t been to El Matador, it’s defiantly worth a visit. Tons of things to see and do, little tide pools, huge rocks and boulders. Also they have these little caves.

Might just want to make a day of it. During they day you’ll run into many tourist and locals. Though I always do enjoy watching dog chase the seagulls, it never gets old. Come Golden Hour, the beach will become uncomfortably crowed with other photos, some not so nice!

This shot was taken with 5 exposures, normal workflow, nothing to special. Still a bit underwhelmed with the sunset that night.

Enjoy~

Last night I joined a bunch of guys from Google+ once again on a photo walk of Downtown LA.

Yes I have been here many times before with other groups and by myself, but I had a great time hanging out with a bunch of other LA Photogs that know via Google+

I found this random park/piece of land. It was completely out of place, sounded by very tall buildings that make up the downtown skyline.

You can see L.A. Live in the background, home of the Staples Center and Nokia Plaza.

The air was very crisp due to a morning rain. Only just a few dusting of sounding clouds left from the storm.

I was so excited to hear that the DWP building in Downtown Los Angeles has turned their fountains on again. For the longest time, the pool surrounding John Ferraro Building has been drained. So I was very excited to see them working.

They look super cool at night too!

Got in and out really quickly. Did meet eyes with two cops walking by, I gave them the nod and they gave me the ok nod back. While they were cool, I wasn’t going to stick around for the building security!

I haven’t shot a lot in the upper part of Downtown L.A. and think I’m going to get on that sooner rather then later!

Enjoy~

On second floor of the Los Angeles Downtown Library lives a high-domed rotunda exploding with light and color. At the center of the dome is a stylized sunburst and an illuminated globe chandelier with the signs of the zodiac. On the surrounding walls, twelve murals painted by Dean Cornwall in 1933 depict the history of California.

They are very camera friendly!
